When Importing subscribers - What's the difference....

When importing contacts into the system you are given the option to ignore, replace or update duplicate contacts. Duplicate contacts are contacts who are already on your system but also in your import spreadsheet.

Subscribers import options

Ignore

  1. If the email address exists in the database, it will skip over the record and not touch it at all
  2. If the email address does not exist, it will insert the record as a new inserted record

Repalce

  1. If the email address exist in the database, it will update the record data as specified in the csv and also people registered date and people subscribed flag (this replaces this record so that it "becomes" a new inserted record)
  2. If the email address does not exist, it will insert the record as a new inserted record

update

  1. If the email address exist in the database, it will update the record data as specified in the CSV
  2. If the email address does not exist, it will insert the record as a new inserted record
Note
The email address is the only key we use. First name and surname are not used in the sorting process.
