Creating custom fields

Your Zulu eLearning account is capable of handling a wide range of data fields. These fields can be public (displayed in the user registration) or private (only displayed in the admin interface) and they can be mandatory (must be completed on registration by users and/or admins).

Custom fields can be in any of the following forms:

  • Text Field
  • Radio Buttons (single select)
  • Dropdown List (single select)
  • Checkbox (multiple select)
  • Multiple Select (large multiple select box)
  • Image Upload (.jpg, .png, etc…)
  • Document Upload (.doc, .pdf, etc…)

Custom fields can also be put into groups so that you can segment the information you require from your users. To start, go to User Management and click 'List Field Sets'

You then need to create a field set - this is a group which your fields will reside in.

I've called this one contractor information and given it a brief description - this will help me understand what field sets are in case I end up needing lots of them. Once you've entered this info you need to click SAVE and then 'ADD FIELD'

This is where we create our individual fields. We get to select what type of field we want it to be, what label it will have and whether it is mandatory or not.

For the moment we are going to ignore conditional fields - we will discuss them in more detail in another post. Once you have entered all your info you then click save and it should appear in your registration form

To create more fields you just repeat this process as many times as you need. We hope you've found this helpful and made your training more powerful!
